We unfortunately had to access the hospital when we were in Petra Jordan as my friend got sick. I think everyone was helpful, and tried to help, we really appreciated. though if their English level is better, that will make things easier. It’s very fast, we didn’t really understand, but doctors and police were efficient, I mean compared with the uk. It will be great if they can improve the English services, but in general i think it’s good and helpful. I don’t hope anyone needs to use my review but if you do, I recommend this hospital.

I am writing this review so that, hopefully, the hospital staff will read and try to avoid this result next time, as well as to let any future patients know so they can be on the lookout. We are from the US and while visiting Petra, my 14 year old daughter had excruciating abdomen pain and vomiting in the hotel on the night of Dec 30, 2024. We took her to this hospital at 4am on Dec 31, 2024. The emergency doctor and the rest of the staff were very professional and amazing and spoke very good English. She was diagnosed with acute appendicitis and scheduled for surgery that morning. The surgeons and the doctors were very professional and spoke good English. We were told that the surgery would take about one hour, but it lasted two hours due to some 'reddish fluid' which the doctors noticed and tried to figure out the source. Anyways, the surgery went well, but afterwards, we noticed that my daughter's voice had changed, the pitch had become higher. Some change of voice is common after intubation during surgeries, so we were relaxed. We stayed at the hospital for six days on purpose to extend healing time before the long trip back to the US. Her voice still did not improve for another two weeks and I took her to an ENT specialist after arriving home. After testing and diagnosing, the doctor told us that her left vocal cord was paralyzed which was causing the voice to be abnormal. She could not tell the extent of the damage, but has advised her to undergo voice therapy for now. This result is extremely rare after intubation and something major must have had to happen during the intubation. This makes me think how many of their surgeries end up this way. Hopefully this is not permanent, but it is now almost a month after the surgery. There has been no improvement in the pitch of the voice and she has a very hard time coughing or clearing her throat. I am taking her to another ENT specialist for a second opinion soon. Please let me know if this is normal or how long this can last. My biggest fear is nerve damage or muscle damage. If anyone from the hospital staff would like to talk to me, they have all my contact information. Edit: fortunately after 2 months and 20 days, my daughter’s voice came back.
