My husband rented a car form Europcar and was stoped by the traffic police at the checkpoint. The police said we committed an offence. We couldn’t communicate in Arabic so we were very worried what would happen to us. They called Europcar in the end and we were told that the vehicle registration has expired ?!!! I also had to exit the car alone in a foreign country and the police kept smiling at me and asked me for my name. I wasn’t even the driver?! I felt harassed and very unsafe the whole time. Do not rent from this company as they shunned all responsibilities and said that it’s normal for police road checks. Seems like it’s not the first time they’re renting out expired vehicles. Rent at your own risk. 👎🏻

Apparently driving the car with an expired license is common as we were stopped by the police for the rental vehicle which wasn’t with proper documentation and because of language barrier, we were so stressed out and were worrying at every corner when we will be stopped again just because we were driving a Europcar rental car without registration. When contacted, this is their reply: Kindly note that the police stop occurred as part of routine checkpoint operations in this area, where vehicles are randomly selected for inspection. Upon reviewing the car’s documentation, the officer noted the registration expired on April-2025. In Jordan, there is a one-month grace period to renew registrations post-expiry, and the vehicle remained fully insured during your rental period. While a ticket was issued, we have not charged you for this fine. Oh, thanks for not charging us the fine for renting a car that did not get the license renewed. I should be so appreciative of that. Stay clear of this company unless you want to be treated like criminals by the traffic police.
