a month agoI just finished my adventure at Wadi Rum Desert Camp. What I experienced there will forever remain in my memory. It's an honor to meet such wonderful people. When you see and feel the joy emanating from them, a smile instantly spreads across your face. The desert expedition was incredible – the most beautiful views imaginable. The food? The bar was set high. Everything was truly delicious! Sleeping under the stars in the desert was fantastic. The peace and quiet you'll experience there are truly breathtaking. Warmest regards to the entire Wadi Rum Desert Camp team, and I hope our paths cross again. Alibaba :)

2 months agoWe visited wadi rum from Amman and booked to stay here for 1 night after visiting Petra the date was 29 Nov- 1 Dec. We were 2 adults. We were visiting from South Africa. When we arrived at the gas station about 5 mins from our camp site we were met with Eyad a representative of wadi Rum desert camp. He took us in his van to the camp as our driver couldn't drive us there on the desert sand. This is the normal protocol for anyone visiting their camp. Once we reached Wadi Rum desert camp Eyad didn't offer us any welcome drink didn't even take our luggage off his van we had to do it ourselves. He called us into his office where he proceeded to force us to book a jeep ride in the desert for 2 hours. We refused as we had just done a full day tour in Petra and we were exhausted after traveling since early morning from Amman to Petra. We explained him we want to just rest as it's 4pm and we are exhausted but he wouldn't understand. He spoke good English by the way. He then tried to force us to book the jeep desert tour for the next morning we also refused it then he said we should book stargazing in the desert for after dinner at a cost of 35 dinars per person so total would be 70 dinars. We told him we are tired and just want to get to our bubble tent to rest. He continuously forced us to book something and said if we don't he will charge us 20 dinar each to drop us back to the gas station the next morning to meet our driver. We said this isn't right and not normal protocol and he said that's how it works if we don't book any tours with him he will charge us to drop us back the next morning to meet our driver. So then we just booked the stargazing tour by force as we realized he won't stop. He then said we should pay him upfront for stargazing and for the bubble tent room we booked. We requested to pay with Visa credit card and he insisted on cash only. He really was very unprofessional and very forceful. We booked to stay in a bubble tent and experience wadi rum but sadly we were met with a terrible host who seen us as a cash cow and just wanted money from us more and more. We felt scammed !!! He is a very greedy man!! The bubble tent was horrible inside nothing 5 star about this place it's a fraud! We booked via booking.com as reviews were good and I have to say it was absolutely horrible. See all the pictures below. The bed linen was smelling so bad and the towels in the bathroom were torn and old and discolored! The bar fridge in room was smelling so bad and the tiles were dirty and stained! The curtains were torn and tattered! I was absolutely horrified! The aircon in the room never worked so the room was very stuffy!! We booked half board so dinner was included and the food was below average very small variety available and it felt very cheap and basic! The breakfast was even worse next morning!! The stargazing turned out to be a nice experience for us only because the driver who took us out to the desert was such a lovely gentleman local to the area. His name was Moyad or something similar to that. He made us lovely tea on the fire and we enjoyed it. Thanks to him only. However, it doesn't change how Eyad treated us so we are writing this review to warn potential future guests as this isn't how a host treats his guests who come from far to visit! I will never recommend this camp site to anyone and I will share our horrible experience back home with everyone! Stay away from this horrible 1 star camp! It's a fraud! It's anything but a 5 star property they are fooling international tourists!!! We have written this review on booking.com site as well to warn others! Stay away!!!
