in the last weekSCAM ALERT ON CIVITATIS! I'm writing this to warn anyone booking a Wadi Rum tour with Civitatis. In our case, the company's intermediary, José, called us by phone, avoiding any written agreement, and tried to convince us that our tour wasn't enough to truly experience the desert. He then offered us a more comprehensive tour with accommodation and a Bedouin show. Afterward, he asked us to cancel our Civitatis tour. Initially, to achieve his goal, this person seemed charming. In our case, they offered us a half-day tour, lunch, a Bedouin show, and a cabin with a private bathroom for 60 JOD per person. We arrived in Wadi Rum with some travel companions who had already spoken with José via WhatsApp at my recommendation. Even so, they were looking for capsule accommodations and booked one through Booking.com. Unfortunately, the day we arrived in the desert, there was a storm, and for safety reasons, we decided to stay together. They canceled their Booking.com reservation after speaking with a guest at our accommodation in the village about staying there instead. One of the Bedouins took us to the camp, and I, having not seen the cabins, didn't comment because I had no expectations. However, one of our travel companions was confused because there were three types of cabins at the camp, but José had only sent him a photo of one type, which wasn't ours. Confused, and with the WhatsApp conversation and the photo, he asked one of the guests, who also didn't know anything. The guest mentioned that the cabin he had been shown was more expensive, and our companion asked how much it was and offered to pay it in front of the guest. But the guest wanted to ask the manager, and while he went to ask, our companion called José to clarify the situation. At that point, José became agitated for no reason, shouting and speaking very rudely. I tried to mediate the situation, since it was simply a question (only a photo of one cabin had been sent, and the other person just wanted to know if that was going to be their cabin or if they had simply forgotten to send photos of ours), and if there had been a misunderstanding on either side, it could have been clarified calmly. His response was just as rude to me. He hung up on us and then blocked us so we couldn't contact him, leaving us without assistance in the middle of the desert during a storm. Later, the guest returned and asked my colleague if he wanted the other cabin. We explained what had happened, and my colleague said that after how José had treated us, no. We told him to give us a refund and we left. The guy spoke to us and calmed us down, and we finally stayed. Between the journey, the situation, and the rain, our departure time was delayed, so they decided we should have lunch and then head out to start the tour, which would no longer be a half-day tour, but we didn't mind. Overall, everything went as expected, and we must highlight that the Bedouin hosts, both at the camp and on the tour, were very kind and hospitable. Upon arriving at the camp at night, we enjoyed a delicious dinner of local dishes, and without any Bedouin entertainment, we went to our cabin. The rooms, in general, were acceptable in the middle of the desert, nothing luxurious. The starry sky and the silence were wonderful. I consider spending a day and a night in Wadi Rum a must-do experience in Jordan, but if you don't want your experience ruined, avoid José, who has proven to be a very unprofessional and rude person, as well as a scammer. To make matters worse, the person involved in the misunderstanding left a review, and José or his manager contacted me via WhatsApp to call me shameless. Not an apology or an explanation, but a complete lack of respect. Now that's shameless. This review is for you, José, and not for the guests, who were lovely.

in the last weekWe had a wonderful time at Wadi Rum Quiet Village Camp! The desert is incredibly beautiful and impressive. We were delighted by the hospitality of the entire Quiet Village team. It was so much fun and entertaining to spend the evenings around the fire listening to stories about Bedouin life. We would definitely come back! 10/10 experience! Thank you.
