a month agoThe Backpacker Camp is the place to be in Wadi Rum. As it's the last camp on the way from the village you can really feel serenity of the desert here. You are surrounded by magnificent rocks and endless sand dunes, it's a perfect place for stargazing in the night. The staff is very welcoming and attentive, they will do their best to make you feel at home. I was lucky to spend the New Year's Eve here and couldn't wish for a better place. It's a good place to connect with other travellers when traveling solo. We got served a delicious dinner prepared in the traditional way - cooked underground, then we sat in the common tent around the fire sharing beduin tea and shisha, playing games and chatting until late hours. Our hosts even prepared a surprise for us at midnight to celebrate the New Year! The sleeping tents are simple, but comfortable and you will get enough blankets to stay warm at night. The next day I also joined a jeep tour, which brings you to different points of interest around Wadi Rum. The tour was well organized, the lunch very tasty and our guide Sultan took a great care of us. We visited many places in the desert and in every place we were given enough time to explore and enjoy, so it didn't feel rushed. The prices for tours and overnight stay are very good and affordable compared to other camps. I can really recommend staying at Backpacker Camp if you're visiting Wadi Rum.

3 months agoI reached out asking for info on a jeep tour and a quote for pickup from a nearby town - a service many other operators provide. And the reply I got? An F-bomb, some colorful language, and an aggressive insistence that “they are not a taxi company.” Would I trust a full-day tour and an overnight stay after that? NO WAY. A surprise audition for “Most Hostile Customer Service of the Year” was enough.
