This magical tour allows visitors to see the ancient city in a different light—literally. Candlelit paths lead to the iconic Al-Khazneh (The Treasury), creating an unforgettable ambiance of mystery and history intertwined.

Tips for Visitors

  • Dress Warmly: Evenings in the desert can be cool, so bring a jacket or sweater.
  • Wear Comfortable Shoes: The walk to The Treasury is about 2km on uneven ground.
  • Arrive Early: To enjoy the full experience, arrive before the start time to secure a good spot.
  • Photography: While photography is allowed, flash is not, so adjust your camera settings accordingly for low-light conditions.
  • Stay Quiet: Part of the event’s charm is its solemnity. Keep noise to a minimum to respect the ambiance and other visitors’ experience.

The Experience

Petra by Night begins at the Siq’s entrance, where visitors are greeted by a path lined with over 1,500 candles, leading to the majestic Treasury. The sight of Al-Khazneh, illuminated by flickering candlelight against the stark, dark sky, is truly breathtaking.

Upon reaching The Treasury, guests are invited to sit on mats and listen to traditional Bedouin music followed by stories about Petra’s history. The combination of music, storytelling, and the spectacular setting makes for an ethereal experience.
