a month agoAn 8-day/7-night trip booked through "Viaggiare nel mondo," which used "Sahara Egypt Travel," through whom I booked the trip/services, and which used Flow Travel for guides and drivers. Rami met me at the airport, very punctual, precise, and friendly, and, given the late hour, took me and a driver to grab a burger on the way to the hotel. Shadi (the first day) and Tarek (the other 4 days) accompanied us, advised us, and guided us on visits, sharing local history, characteristics, aspects, and social customs. Without them, it wouldn't have been the same. Tips and suggestions: If you're not a fan of the sun and tanning, spend as little time as possible at the Dead Sea. You can easily go and explore Rainbow Street on your own, taking your time. Souk Jara, a craft/art market, about halfway down the street, is only open on Fridays during certain months of the year. Don't book optional excursions right away so you don't get too tied down by the schedule and can organize them with your guide as you please. Jerash, probably unknown to us before. Little Petra, I liked it as much as the more famous one. Petra by night is evocative, before visiting the site by day (30JOD for Petra by Night, cash only). Petra by day requires at least half a day, excluding the more distant sites like the monastery. But even skipping the longer tours is still a pleasure. Jeep excursion in Wadi Rum (cash only), preferably extended to 3 or 4 hours to see the sunset when it's cooler. Even if you're not staying in Aqaba (I preferred not to stay), take a boat trip with a panoramic window and snorkeling (cash only). It may be disappointing at first (the sight of a tank and a plane... I couldn't even make out the latter), but it'll be worth it. Avoid the Sheikh Alhara restaurant in Aqaba. Visit and hike Wadi Mujib, rather than spending a half-day on the Dead Sea, unless you want a massage/spa or sunbathe. Check out the site and activities first; I think you'll need a bit of an adventurous spirit (we didn't manage to do it). Not suitable for children. Try the sugarcane juice during Amman's downtime. Exchange the € you'll need to bring from home directly at the currency exchange. ATM withdrawals will cost a fixed 5JOD per withdrawal + exchange rate commission. Some services are paid for in cash (JOD) and cannot be paid by credit/debit card unless pre-paid in the package (not recommended, as I mentioned before). Tips are expected (for porters, waiters, drivers, and guides). I don't know if they handled the hotel reservations themselves, or, as I believe, other agencies mentioned above; ask if the trip will be in a group with other people, and if so, ask to be placed in the SAME hotel, if it is of the same category as the one paid for/planned for in the package, to avoid wasting time in multiple trips picking up/dropping off members of the group to different hotels (in my case we had 3 different hotels in Amman) and 2 in other locations.
