a week agoWe stayed here in June 2025 and had such an amazing time. All of the staff were so welcoming and friendly, as well as offering us advice and recommendations for walking routes through Petra, and viewpoints for Wadi Musa. The food served for dinner was delicious, as was the breakfast included with our booking. The bathrooms were very modern and well equipped, and the beds were very comfortable. The air conditioning was excellent and worked very well. The staff also helped us more than they needed to when our plans had to change with our trips, we cannot recommend this hotel enough! We really want to visit Jordan again, and if we do we will definitely be booking another room here!

2 weeks agoWe stayed at the Petra Karam Hotel for one night an we would highly recommend it to any travellers in the area. The rooms were bright, clean and airy and are a much better standard than rooms in Amman. If we were to ever return, we would stay here again. Thanks.

4 weeks ago0/5 Avoid This Hotel: Unprofessional, Disrespectful, and Scam-Like Behavior Our experience at Petra Karam Hotel was extremely unpleasant and stressful, and I would not recommend this place to anyone. Arrival was chaotic and suspicious. Upon check-in, the manager/receptionist could not find our already paid, non-refundable booking. He then asked us to cancel the booking and pay him in cash, which made absolutely no sense and felt highly inappropriate. I had booked and paid for a smoking room on Agoda, which was clearly confirmed. However, at check-in we were never informed that the room was non-smoking. We stayed out all day exploring Petra and only returned to sleep at night. We smoked in the room with the window open, unaware of any issue. The father–son duo who run the hotel are extremely disrespectful, especially towards women. Their behavior was rude, aggressive, and frankly misogynistic. They treated us as if guests are doing them a favor by staying there, rather than the other way around. Hospitality was nonexistent. Things escalated further when housekeeping entered our room without permission while we were away. When we returned, our belongings had been moved and scattered around the room. This is completely unacceptable and a serious violation of privacy. At checkout, we left the access card in the holder and the room door open, loaded our luggage into the taxi right in front of them, and sat down to leave. Only then did the father come to the taxi and aggressively confronted my partner, accusing us of wrongdoing. He suddenly demanded 50 JOD as a fine for smoking, despite the fact that I had booked and paid for a smoking room and was never informed otherwise. When I refused to pay, he threatened to call the police. I told him to go ahead. We waited for one full hour, and unsurprisingly, no police ever came — because he never called them. This was clearly an intimidation tactic to pressure us into paying. The son then arrived and escalated the situation further with false accusations, claiming we broke items in the room (which is completely untrue), and even said things like “we can do this the easy way or the hard way… you can run but we will catch you at the airport.” This was shocking, threatening, and totally inappropriate. We ultimately went to the police station ourselves and explained the situation. The police reviewed our receipts and booking details and sided with us. The hotel staff then changed their story, complaining about imaginary housekeeping costs and smoke detector issues—none of which were valid. This hotel operates with scam-like tactics, intimidation, and zero professionalism. They have no understanding of how to run a hospitality business and seem to rely on pressuring tourists for money. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.
